You're going to see a lot of school work from me, peeps. Sorry. I realize thats pretty much all I've been posting but school is all I have time for when it comes to drawing.

Sorry if the colors are too dark in this. A classmate of mine in digital illustration class originally did an illustration with this composition so you can call this a recreation.

Now before people get all bent out of shape and go, "Dani! You're stealing!" Let me remind you, I am a student and I was learning from a fellow classmate who had interesting composition and technique so I attempted to recreate it to better understand how he created his piece. I was playing with the idea of painting all on one layer and creating a simple shading effect. It was practice in finding ways to better illustrate a certain emotion with limited color and I have to say I learned quite a lot from this little piece. So in conclusion, I take no credit for how this piece is composed. However, I created this piece 100% on my own and, in fact, from my memory.

This illustration was inspired by a short story by Ray Bradbury in his book "The Illustrated Man." The short story was called "Rocket Man" and it was about a man who was struggling between a life with his family or taking his homemade rocket into space. In the end, he takes a final voyage into space in which he flies right into the sun. In this image, we see his rocket erupting into space with his wife and son looking up into the stars while surrounded by fireflies.

I liked the original composition where the wife and son watched the rocket erupt into space with a few fireflies buzzing around. I envisioned the fireflies appearing subtly and blending almost seamlessly with the stars.
